Item: Party Invitation
2 color offset printing with pivoting metal grommet

Product Development Objective: The invitation was for a party which had been held every year for 10 years at the same time. The invitees (about 150 of them) were accustomed to getting an invitation and to going. This allowed for a great deal of flexibility in the invitation. Since the recipients were already clear about the invitation's particulars such as time, date, and location the invitation was intentionally made a puzzle. It was a puzzle to figure out how to see the inside of it (it pivots in a circle around a metal grommet). It was a puzzle to figure out the date ( the date is displayed on an image of a machinery numerical counter). And other particulars were imbedded in the images of quark particle trails in the background. The number of people appearing at the event did not change that year from previous years and the guests instantly had something in common to talk about at the party.
